DIN 18740-5:2021-02

This standard applies to land cover classifications using multi and hyperspectral aerial and satellite image data captured by digital optical sensors (area or line scan cameras). These sensors must meet measurement requirements (radiometric and geometric). Photogrammetry and remote sensing provide methods to extract and process geometric and thematic information from image data. A large number of sensors (e. g. cameras, radar, laser) are used to capture geo-related image data. In accordance with the objectives of the DIN 18740 series of standards, this standard specifies the requirements for the classification of optical remote sensing data. DIN 18740-5 deals with three main topics: - requirements for sensors and data capture conditions; - requirements for algorithms and procedures; - accuracy requirements.
